A good read, reminding me of letters stored in a closet. Of my grandmothers letters to my grandpa the year before they married. Letters about planning their house. Or the ones by that generation about their time at the U of M winter ag course at the time of the Spanish flu in the early 1900’s. Or the ones between sisters about Christmas gifts they made or ordered for my mom. So much history, so many boxes. Precious treasures to me, one of the last who remembers the people. Thank you!
Gosh, I enjoyed both your article and the bread. Among the belongings I brought in the car with me on my cross-country trip were hand written notes received over the years, from my parents, children and grandkids. Little bits of home away from home. Yes, we talked on the phone over the six weeks, but the notes/drawings are precious to me. My intentions to be a more dedicated letter writer fall short, sometimes in the interest of a loved one getting the message immediately via text or email. In the end, I think that a letter in the hand, is worth a bushel full of messages in cyber space!
The video about the connection made between Meadowlark Farm and and Mill and Gwenlyn Hill Farm was a reminder of the how much more we can accomplish when we broaden our connections and work collaboratively. This is an area where I need to stretch myself. Thanks Amy!
I love knowing that these papers traveled with you! And you hit the nail on the head about phone and text interrupting the intention to write letters. The craving for immediacy outweighs the urge to slow down and work in what is now an old-fashioned form! Heaven forfend, letters are old-fashioned?
Up until today, I enjoyed your letters “Dear Bread”. But after reading the posted letter about Trump’s Rally, I realize how totally demented you and your followers are. Harris is a LIAR…..as Senator Kennedy (La) said this morning….”if she walked by a polygraph machine, it would explode”. Good luck on your silly and outrageous assumption that Trump is a Facist. Do you know the meaning of the word or are you just repeating what Harris spewed? Look at Trump’s children….compare them to Biden’s family….that is a great way to determine who is a better person. He has one son who is a drug addict, among many other things, and his daughter wrote in her diary that she took showers with her father when she was a teenager. None of Trump’s children even drink. Biden is a criminal and should be put in jail for treason and Harris was right there….she can’t answer a single question other than to say things she hopes the public will believe about Trump. I am a middle aged woman with a college degree…I think there are many of us lurking out in the shadows who will prove you and your followers to be insane. I am intelligent enough to understand this country needs a strong leader..if we want to survive. I suppose you supported Hillary too. What a bunch of idiots.

Thanks for reading and for telling me about your family's letters! Now I can imagine them. Treasures indeed.
